Review of Nicki Baby Violet by Kathe Kruse
nicky babies are so educational and great!
i own this violet nicki baby, however my doll’s hat is striped. im pretty sure i’m going to be ordering this polka dot version also. i’m a 24 year old, first time mother and i came across this product approx one year ago. i don’t know about anyone else, but honestly the price did scare me but this site is very reasonable for this item. i was hesitant at first because if you’re not familiar with kathe kruse (the company who makes these by hand, which i had never heard of her at that time)it seems like this product is just a bean bag gnome/doll that is pointless but i decided to get one and now i can honestly say i own every color and also have “back ups” to give as gifts or if something happens to my daughter’s collection. I have yet to have any structural issues or damage to any of these dolls and my daughter and i play with them every day and we are rough with them. my daughter is now 20 months old and this simple toy taught her great skills and made her so advanced (per her pediatrician)in “imaginary” play. i learned things from these toys also, especially a huge respect for “natural” and “hand made” products. when you get this gnome home and you look at it, you notice it’s “plain” face but honestly, it is one of the cuttest things ive ever seen. all my adult friends have said the exact same thing, but that little plain face gives our children the chance to decide what they want it to look like etc. no two dolls are the same, considering they are handmade…although my daughter is young for this concept, i do talk to her about what makes each doll “different” and beautiful and it will definately teach diversity amongst everything and everyone etc. there are so many beautiful colors (like i said we have them all) and it taught my daughter to identify colors, learn beginning “math” skills, like compare/contrast, counting, grouping “like” colors (some colors are similiar, but resemble the way a rainbow fades into the next color and makes the in between red/orange etc. those colors are also made in this line of product which is great). I’m excited now to get this one shown in the pic with the polka dot hat. the violet cloth is gorgeous in person. i have a few in this color and they are a hair lighter than the picture, but i’m looking forward to using the different hat prints in my daily learning/play with my daughter. she doesnt realize yet that learning can be fun. i wasn’t much of a student so its important for me to take a “fun” approach with my daughter and these toys do the trick. i have never heard a negative comment about these toys, especially after i explain how they are made and the benefits of a simple, adorable bean bag gnome. i would recommend for all ages. i even find myself playing with the beads inside when im stressed or board. boys or girls can use these. gnomes are great for all genders and everyone should learn the nurturing/loving part of life (my opinion of course). i would give this type of toy to my son if i ever have one, but as for now; my daughter and i have a great time and spend great bonding/quality time together with this product. my daughter even gets my husband involved and he’s not the type to play with “toys”, but once he saw how much our daughter enjoyed dancing with them and making them “hug” or give “hi five”, he can’t resist. :) try them!
