Fly away with Plan Toys!

written 7 months ago

My son just received this for his 4th birthday. It’s a pretty cool set-up, though I think my husband and I had more fun playing with it than our son! The elevator and conveyor belts are the only moving parts, but they are a lot of fun. The check-in counter is not fixed, so it can be moved to any part of the airport. The top is not wood but rather a thick foam. My husband worried would tear once the airport was fully assembled, but I think it would take a lot of abuse to hurt it. The ramps just sit on small tabs and are not fixed in place, so they tend to fall off with just a little jostling. I’d suppose we could glue them in place, but I’m not sure if that would be asking for broken ramps or not. The railing on the control tower is not glued in place, so my son seemed a little confused as to why it wobbles. Structurally, the weakest piece seems to be the sky-path. It slides out on a little track and then pivots down to the ground. At the pivot point is a very thin dowel. I think that it will probably snap off eventually, especially since my son pretends that it’s a plank on a ship rather than a sky-path. The little plane is very cute, but the elastic that is used to hold the pilot in place is a little bit difficult for my son to manage. Heck, it’s a little difficult for me too! I worry that he might get frustrated and pull it hard enough to snap it someday. It does, however, hold the little pilot in place very well. I do wish that Plan Toys had a larger plane available so that passengers could board, not just the pilot.
