impressive quality/idea

I bought two of these and will likely buy more to give as shower gifts. I have Baby Bjorn bibs that I absolutely love but have these tucked away in the diaper bag and baby cooler bag just in case I forget the Bjorn bibs. The blue portion is a hard plastic consistency. The green strings are a slick, firm rubber consistency. There are no rough or sharp edges/surfaces that could irritate a child’s neck. The blue top portion can be adjusted with surprising ease, up and down the rubber strings, but will not slip or “wander” on its own. The blue clips themselves are surprisingly sturdy and effective. I clipped a paper napkin into the clips and found that the napkin wasn’t any easier to pull out of the clips than a regular velcro bib could be pulled off. The thinner the object you are clipping, the deeper into the clip it can be passed, thereby being more firmly fixed. The only problem I can foresee is cleaning the clips if food gets into them. To insert a napkin/cloth into the clip, you apply pressure just above the metal tab at the center of the clip circle. The bottom of the smaller circle that is set into the larger outer circle is the part that pops open when pressure is applied. The clip opens about a quarter inch. There is also a small hole above the metal tab. These would both require something smaller than a Q-tip in order to clean effectively. In writing this, I just realized that I should use this clip in combination with my cloth diapers in place of my velcro bibs. My son has eczema (a rash that intensifies with irritation) and the velcro, if not closed just right, creates a rashy patch on the back of his neck. This could be the solution! I need to promote these clips from “back-up” status to “front-line” status!
