These frames provide preschoolers a great place to create and keep their work on a confined flat surface. It’s also particularly helpful to do work on the floor if it’s carpeted flooring.

The set comes with 5 frames:

  • four 4.5-inch square frames
  • one 8.5-inch square frame

Designed based on the teachings of passionate German educator Friedrich W. A. Froebel, the founder of “kindergarten”, these toys teach math concepts in a fun and playful way.

Froebel (born in 1782) was the first person to call for training of pre-school educators, and based his ideas on tested educational models promoting children’s natural development with movements and games; the equivalence of modern day “learning through playing” concept.

Smaller Than I Thought

On the plus side, I think that the frames are well made. However, the small ones are so small that I don’t think they are much good for anything. I got them for my friend who has three kids, along with the wooden disks, but you can’t actually use them to make any pictures. They are really only good for doing math, I guess.

These frames are sturdy and well made and price for it is bargain. two small and one big frames are included. My son used them playing with other Froebel products like Froebel rings, contours, that I purchased with great sale prices also.

Another use for the frames

I use these as backing for pictures. I print pictures on canvas paper and then glue them to the frames. It gives dimension to the pictures. The wood frames are light weight but very good quality. I ordered two boxes and plan on getting some more!

These are very nice frames. I bought these, along with most of the other Froebel sets, as a homeschooling tool. As it turns out, the large frame is the exact fit for our ImagiPlay dinosaur puzzle. I’ll probably buy a few more of these as they can come in so handy!
