A collection of French language songs that will bring joy to people of all ages.

An inspiring and entertaining musical journey for all ages to France, Quebec, Haiti and beyond. Bon Voyage!

Bilingual families and children learning French or English will enjoy the fact that the complete lyrics for each song are printed in both languages. As with all Putumayo CDs, French Playground features full-color liner notes with artist and cultural information. The CD is a great resource for language and social studies teachers.

The artists on French Playground include some of the most popular children’s performers in their respective countries, along with successful pop artists such as Pascal Parisot, Thomas Fersen, Tryo and Ariane Moffat whose songs were selected for their all-ages appeal. Musical styles range from French chanson and Gypsy jazz to the twoubadou music of Haiti and the rootsbending style of Triton, who is from Mauritius, an island off the east coast of Africa.

Gallic joie de vivre is expressed in each of the tunes, from the opening song’s invitation to “tickle the sun” with a ladybug (Chatouiller le Ciel avec Toi), to songs that celebrate the beauty of the South of France (Clic-Clac Oh C’est Beau!). Some of the tracks provide tasty little slices of French life, including “Bonjour, Bonjour,” which tells of a little bus’s journey past boulangeries and other neighborhood spots. Children will also enjoy a young man’s memories of staying with his grandparents (Petit Francais).

About Putumayo Kids

Putumayo is a river that begins in the South American country of Colombia and flows along the border of Ecuador and Peru until it reaches the Amazon in Brazil. Putumayo’s founder, Dan Storper, was traveling through the region in 1974, and was so enamored with its beauty, he decided to name his new handicraft shop after it.
When traveling he often would collect music from the different areas he visited and would make compilations to play overhead in his store. So many people commented on his music selections he eventually sold the
stores and started Putumayo World Music.

At least one percent of the CD sales benefit non-profit groups that support children, families, schools and other charities.

This is one of our favorites! Oui, oui!

We have enjoyed several Putamayo music cds, but this is one of our favorites! Jaunty, fun tunes in ever-so-romantic-sounding Francais…What’s not to enjoy? “Clic Clac” is a favorite, as is “Bonjour, Bonjour”. An excellent cd if you love French culture and language and want to introduce a snapshot of it to your little one.

good cute CD

We just got this CD, and it is pretty good, but not our favorite. The music is fine and fun, but my little guy seems to prefer the Latin & European playground CDs more. Maybe this one will become more of a favorite with time!
