About Hess
Once famous for mining, the workers of Olbernhau, Germany, had to find another livelihood when the ore ran out. Many miners started using the plentiful beech trees to make small toys, and now the area is known as the gateway to toy country. Hess-Holzspielzeug is a family-owned company part of this German toy-making tradition.
Hess uses only domestic, sustainable beech for wooden toys, and all products are fully constructed in the Hess factory. Metal parts are nickel free, and all paints, stains, glues and parts are non-toxic. Hess is committed to making safe toys and hiring locally to maintain a sustainable economy.

Perfect above a changing table!
written almost 4 years agoI love these adorable springy toys. I hung mine above my daughters’ changing table. They are the perfect thing for creating a distraction when changing or dressing a wiggily baby. Both of my daughters love them! Just purchased two as gifts for friends whose son is also enjoying them above his changing table. Would also be great above a crib. They are hard to find . . . so glad I found this online retailer, thanks a bunch!
What a cheap toy.
written about 4 years agoI gave this to my 1 year old son for his birthday. It lasted only two days before he was able to pull the head off. I haven’t tried gluing it back yet, but shouldn’t have to. I’ll never buy from this company again…
