Made with natural and solid beech wood, this set of 116 pieces in 14 different shapes fosters creativity and fine motor skills.
A wonderful set for Montessori and Waldorf teachings at home or at school.
Designed based on the teachings of passionate German educator Friedrich W. A. Froebel, the founder of “kindergarten”, these toys teach math concepts in a fun and playful way.
Froebel (born in 1782) was the first person to call for training of pre-school educators, and based his ideas on tested educational models promoting children’s natural development with movements and games; the equivalence of modern day “learning through playing” concept.

lots of building fun
written over 1 year agomy 2 1/2 year old loves these small blocks – there are lots of interesting shapes to provide lots of building fun - they hold her attention as she often builds for about 45 minutes at a time. i gave this set four stars because a few of the blocks had some rough edges, but they were easily and quickly sanded down without too much effort on my part.
Back for more!
written over 2 years agoI recently purchased this with my 3 yr old son in mind, and am back again because his older cousins really enjoyed it, and are very creative with their engineering skills. This really lets you create a lot, either flat on the floor or 3 dimensionally. Lots of pieces too.
Great homeschooling tool
written over 3 years agoI bought just about all of the Froebel sets sold at KangarooBoo as homeschooling tools. This is a really nice set, with tons of different shapes and sizes. Most of the pieces are very small, though, so these are definitely for older children. Though the label is Haba, these are really TC Timber blocks. They have no finish and are a bit more rough around the edges than normal Haba products. From what I understand, the TC Timber line has been discontinued, so this might be one of the last places to get these cool little blocks!
