Froebel Contours (600 pcs)
Each of the 600 pegs in this set is equal to one centimeter. Pegs help measure contours when a straight ruler won’t work. Pegs can also be used to make geometric forms or pictures.
Made of solid beech wood.
Based on the teachings of passionate German educator Friedrich W. A. Froebel, the founder of “kindergarten”, these toys teach math concepts in a fun and playful way.
Froebel (born in 1782) was the first person to call for training of pre-school educators, and based his ideas on tested educational models promoting children’s natural development with movements and games; the equivalence of modern day “learning through playing” concept.
Ever since the German company Habermaaß was established in 1938, HABA have focused on working for children.
The name HABA stands for high quality products, product reliability, age appropriate materials and environmental consciousness. A perfect match of Inventive Playthings for Inquisitive Minds.
I bought just about all of the Froebel sets sold at KangarooBoo as homeschooling tools. These pieces are extremely small, so they are definitely for older children. All 600 would probably fit in a Ziploc sandwich baggie. Though the label is Haba, these are really TC Timber. From what I understand, the TC Timber line has been discontinued, so this might be one of the last places to get these cool little manipulatives!
