When kids want to be 'big'

My 4yr old is in love with this set she got for Christmas. We have always taught that only mom and dad can cut things, so this is a nice way for her to get to feel a little grown up and practice the skill safely. It isn’t too easy but also not too hard so she isn’t losing interest. The kids also love creating hybrid pieces, like a cucaple! (cucumber carrot apple haha)

Maybe Not

I got this set for my daughter thinking it would help her build on motor skills. And I’m not saying it doesn’t do the job (which is great)but this set as also teaching kids to treat knife as a toy. Not sure this is a good idea=((( Maybe another interpretation of cooking will do better for us.

Good set with nice variety of items

I have been happy with this set overall. A few minor issues, such as the velcro weakening over time, so that the watermelon “sags”, and also the paint chipping on several of the items. I think the chipping paint is indicative of Melissa & Doug items in general. Kids love cutting the items, so it is a great toy for that skill.

Good Quality

I purchased this for my 2.5 year old when she was obsessed with learning to cut. Very good quality – we’ve been using it over six months and have experienced no chips or breakage. The only thing is that after repeated use, the Velcro that fastens the food pieces together starts to get loose (but works just as well).

Nice play food

I bought this as a gift for my friend’s daughter first birthday. It was great at the beginning and she had fun playing with it. However, the quality is not as good as some other brand like Haba and plan toys. My friend told me a piece of the wood actually chipped off after her daughter threw it on the floor. She doesn’t let her play with it anymore.

Great for creating soups!!

This is one of my childrens (ages 23 months and 3 1/2 years old) absolute favorite things!!! They both love to slice the food and make “soups” with the cut up pieces for Mama, Daddy, their babies or anyone else that is visiting. Plus I am really happy that it is made of wood instead of plastic!! One of the BEST purchases I’ve made—Very FUN!!!

Fun for all ages

This was the biggest hit at my son’s 2nd birthday party! Kids from 2 to 9 were clamoring to play with it, and it’s still the most requested toy at my house. There’s something so satisfying about cutting this food.
