About Hess

Once famous for mining, the workers of Olbernhau, Germany, had to find another livelihood when the ore ran out. Many miners started using the plentiful beech trees to make small toys, and now the area is known as the gateway to toy country. Hess-Holzspielzeug is a family-owned company part of this German toy-making tradition.

Hess uses only domestic, sustainable beech for wooden toys, and all products are fully constructed in the Hess factory. Metal parts are nickel free, and all paints, stains, glues and parts are non-toxic. Hess is committed to making safe toys and hiring locally to maintain a sustainable economy.

very strong clip

this clip is so strong! My baby cannot pull it loose which I love. You will not loose your toys again using this clip. I think it is really worth it. I may have to buy a few more. I don’t know how it compares to the Haba version.
