Hess no longer export to the US market due to the new CPSIA regulations. All Hess products conforms to European toy safety standards, but in order to conform to CPSIA, Hess, a small family-owned company, would need to increase prices dramatically, effectively pricing it out of the market.
This is a very unfortunate and unintended consequence of the CPSIA regulations. For more information about CPSIA, visit coolmompicks’ Save Handmade page.

Once famous for mining, the workers of Olbernhau, Germany, had to find another livelihood when the ore ran out. Many miners started using the plentiful beech trees to make small toys, and now the area is known as the gateway to toy country. Hess-Holzspielzeug is a family-owned company part of this German toy-making tradition.
Hess uses only domestic, sustainable beech for wooden toys, and all products are fully constructed in the Hess factory. Metal parts are nickel free, and all paints, stains, glues and parts are non-toxic. Hess is committed to making safe toys and hiring locally to maintain a sustainable economy.
I was a little hesitant about this walker. First of all because of the price, and secondly, because I thought it might just be too big for my house. Thank goodness I tried it out anyway. It is absolutely perfect! Smaller than I imagined (and than traditional bulky plastic walkers). Love its functionality through baby’s developmental stages. Just put it together last night and my daughter already loves the beautiful little toys that hang.
For ages: 10 months+
