Pirate Ship by Plan Toys

Wondeful pirate starter set! written almost 3 years ago

This set is great: it is typical Plan high quality, has smooth wooden pieces that feel good in the hand, includes many pieces, and has nice bright colors. Both of my boys (ages 5 and 3) like this set and its versatility. The yellow deck that holds the steering wheel lifts off, the wooden steps lift off, the sail can be easily removed, so if you need more play room (my 3 year old) you can clear the decks quickly and easily! My older son likes the springy plank, the rowboat with removable oars, and the quirky crocodile that looks like it’s floating beside the ship! Great set!

Nice little drum set! written over 4 years ago

This drum set is a big hit with my 4 year old. The drum heads are made out of a rubber-type material, which is wonderful for two reasons. Number one, it seems as if it will last much longer than the usual paper-type drum heads you often find on kids’ music sets (in other words, you can hit fairly hard without fear of puncture). Number two, the rubber makes a much mellower, softer sound than the typical heads usually found on toy drums (great for mom’s ears – yea!!). The little cymbal’s sound is more on the annoying side, however, so there is a downside – very tinny, but at least it does not resonate for long at all. It is more like a quick splash of sound. Fortunately, my son has so far been more drawn to the drums and the guiro (the little red ribbed wooden piece between the drums) which also has a nice pleasing soft “bumpy” sound, as my son puts it!
Overall, this is a cute little set, and has gotten lots of play at our house. It is different than the other musical sets we have seen in the past, and is a great option. Recommend.

Yes - the buzz is true about Sophie! written over 4 years ago

Yep, the glowing reviews of Sophie are true – something about the rubber material she is made out of is very different from other teethers we have tried in the past. My one year old is still using Sophie, even though I thought he might be done with her by now, as he breaks in those molars. The legs are perfect for that back region of the mouth, and yet still not gaggy for him, which is a big plus. Overall, I think he just likes the way she feels as he chews – and he loves the squeaker inside (by the way – the squeaker is a very pleasing little sound and is not annoying). Best of all, she shows no sign of wear at all, and is easy to clean! Sophie has become my “go to” baby shower gift. Highly recommend.

Very solid, well-constructed toy written over 4 years ago

We love this car from Plan! My 4 year old likes the way it rolls soooo smoothly: it is so well-engineered that it is a breeze to push. He likes the way the trunk slides backwards to hold the roof of the convertible when you put the top down – very cute. My younger son is also very interested in this car. I have a feeling he will get a lot of play out of it as he grows. As a parent, I like the safety aspects: it is so solidly built, there are no toxic paints, it has completely smooth parts, no sharp tiny pieces to break, etc. It is a plus that the large rubber wheels do not scratch our wood floors at all, even as my boys race and push the car around the house! It would be tough to find a more solid toy – highly recommend!

Yeah, it's a little pricey, but worth it! written over 4 years ago

This is a really neat toy. It is very simple in its construction, but extremely well-made and well-built. The child places one of the cars that comes with this set at the edge of the uppermost ramp and lets go: the car slides down the first ramp, automatically falls onto the second ramp, soars down it and onto the next, and the next…. It is a really neat example of the physics of motion and momentum. My 1 year old LOVES this toy and my 4 year old also finds it interesting (he just gets tired of it sooner, due to his older age, but he does still play with it). The set comes with 4 cars total: two singles and one set of 2 cars that are attached to each other (this set of 2 is everyone’s FAVORITE in the house – it is amazing and mesmerizing to watch the 2 car set go down the ramps….so cool, even for moms to watch!). The cars go down the ramps smoothly, and even ring the little bell that is suspended from the second ramp (a big hit with my 1 year old). Even the 2 car set goes down the ramps effortlessly and very smoothly. We havent had any problems with cars getting stuck, and they go down the ramp fairly fast. I should note though that the cars’ wheels dont touch the ground: the body of the car sits very low, so they cannot be used as regular play cars on the ground: they can only be used with this set. Likewise, I have not found any other car sets that work with this ramp. Still, the 4 cars they give you are more than enough. They, like the ramp itself, are made of strong, smooth wood that is painted in nice bright colors. I highly recommend this set – no batteries to replace and no parts to break!
