Sophie the Giraffe by Vulli

Baby loves Sophie! written almost 2 years ago

I was hesitant to purchase this teether and others in the Vulli line because they are so expensive. However, the desire to give our daughter a nontoxic toy prevailed. As a testament to how happy we are with this product, this is actually our 2nd Sophie (the 1st we lost on a shopping trip—pure agony!). Our baby gets so much enjoyment and teething pleasure out of Sophie. She started teething early, at 3 months, and Sophie was a bit big for her mouth so we got her Gnon. (I’m glad we got both.) Also, compared with Gnon, Sophie has more staying power and longevity with its varying texture and shape. Three-and-a-half months later, our baby still delights in Sophie’s squeaks and in gnawing at her from all different angles. From an aesthetic point of view, the giraffe in the picture looks more friendly than the actual toy (our 1st less than our 2nd, the variation occurring from being handmade). In actuality ours has “alien-like” eyes, but Baby doesn’t mind. Just an adult hang-up.

Nice but not a personal favorite written almost 2 years ago

I love that Haba toys are non-toxic, but I can’t say this is one of Baby’s favorites. For us Sunni works better as a play-together toy as opposed to one that she likes to enjoy independently (as with the Vulli brand teethers). We also find the bell to be barely audible. On the plus side, it works our 7-month old’s motor skills and spins on a flat surface. It is bright and colorful as the photo indicates.

Cute but not baby's favorite written almost 2 years ago

Olli is very cute, and bright and colorful. Our 7-month old likes to grab his hands and bite his hat. But so far, Olli does not have much use as a toy for independent play (as opposed to Sophie the Giraffe or Squeak-Squeak) and gets quickly tossed overboard. I could see this change as she gets older, but speculating at this point. For some reason I was expecting a toy that would stay upright when pushed, that when tipped would wobble but right itself. Rereading the product description, it does state to give a “gentle nudge.” Indeed a gentle nudge only. Of course, great that it’s non-toxic.

it's ok written almost 2 years ago

Of course I like the peace of mind that comes from knowing that this teether is non-toxic, but it doesn’t seem to stay cold very long. (Maybe this is normal for such teethers?) Also, while my baby likes to chew on it when I first give it to her, she seems to loose interest very quickly, not like with Sophie the Giraffe. For babies who teethe early like ours did at 3 months, it may be a little big for their mouths.

Chan Pie Gnon Yellow by Vulli

Nice for early teethers written almost 2 years ago

Our baby started teething at 3 months. Based on the reviews, we initially got Sophie the Giraffe which she loved, but it was a bit big for her mouth. So we got Gnon thinking it would be easier for her to chew on. As with Sophie, our baby loves its squeaky noises. Now that our baby is older and easily chews on both Sophie and Gnon, we have observed a preference for Sophie probably because Sophie has more textures. Still, we are glad we got both.
